Development and restoration for the future
Crypt Development
St Dunstan's crypt was designed by John Shaw and built in the 1830s along with the rest of the Church building. This is a large space, which has now been cleared of most of its remains, and we are keen to put it to an appropriate use. Not only could this allow the public access to the beautiful space, it would give the Church more space for use by community groups and eventually provide a reliable income stream for the Church.
At present we are in the early stages of planning how best to develop this space and bring it back into use. Ideas have included turning it into a conference centre and internet café, and we are also hoping to extend our work with the Romanian community who share our Church building..

Michael Hoare Memorial Organ Appeal
We need to raise around £200,000 to restore our organ. Our fundraising got off to a good start thanks to the great commitment of Michael Hoare, and the concerts that were held here before he died in November 2001. The concerts were a great success thanks to the meticulous care of Venetia Leng, Michael’s daughter and the generosity of the The Golden Bottle Trust.
King Lud & Queen Elizabeth
We are also hoping to restore the statues of Queen Elizabeth and King Lud in our churchyard with the help of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and other kind benefactors.
If you have a passion for history and would like to support any of these projects, we would love to hear from you. Please contact contact the Guild Vicar.
