LUNCHTIME CONCERTS
The free lunchtime classical music recitals on Wednesdays from 1.15 pm to 2.00
pm are now a regular feature of the St Dustan’s week. They provide an
opportunity for relaxation and refreshment in the middle of the busy working
week, or a friendly place for those who are not so busy to come to enjoy the
music; all are welcome, even if they can stay for only part of the concert.
Members of the audience who wish to do so are invited to bring their lunch and
eat it as they listen, and tea and coffee are available both before and after
the performance
The concerts are held in association with the Anglo-Japanese Society of Wessex,
of which the concert organiser, Godfrey King, is also the director. The
musicians featured include a number of gifted and accomplished young Japanese
performers living or studying is this country as well as English musicians and
those from other countries working here, The Church is grateful to the Society
and to Japan Airlines for their support for the concerts; an individual, firm or
company can also sponsor a concert at a very modest cost (details can be
obtained from Godfrey King via the Society’s web site at
www.ajsw.org.uk).
Chantage
Our local choir Chantage,
who rehearse here and hold concerts both nationally and internationally,
have recently won the BBC Choir of the Year Competition.
